This text is very interesting to me. I chose it as my rhetorical analysis essay before I even knew it would be one of our readings. The author is a little biased because naturally she herself is a women. On the other hand, I agree with her on alot of points. Women are slandered much in the media and exspecially in advertising. The advertisements in todays world portray women as being weak and secretly fantasizing about being assaulted sexually, at least thats what the author of this text seems to think.
I think it it true to an extent but she doesnt even care to look into anything else, she is definantly guilty of begging the question and a whole bunch of card stacking. She always brings everything up that will only help her point of view and help anybody see that point of view better. Does she do it well? yes! does evrybody agree with hw she did it? I dont know.

So I'm doing my rhetorical analysis on this piece as well. I found it quite interesting. I think your point of view kind of proves my thesis as well- being something along the lines that the audience that would agree with her would be women and men might disagree more. I think I do agree with how she presents her story. She definitely does do it well!
ReplyDeleteAlthough you may not agree with her point of view you have to admit that she backed it up quite well with all of those sample advertisments in her essay. And although she is definitely baised for being a woman I would say that in reading her peice you too were biased, because naturally your a man. Something to think about.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being so open minded about these matters Cade! I think the author was intentionally biased to really catch the readers' attention which she did very well!
